Terms of Service

Safi exists to help you make better-informed personal decisions. Before you sign a lease, go on a date, or enter a business deal, we search publicly available records so you can walk in with the right questions to ask.

These terms are here to protect you and the people you check. They set out how Safi works, what we do with your data, and what you agree to when you use the service. Everything below is standard for a service like ours. No surprises, no fine print tricks.

One important thing to know: Safi only searches publicly available databases: government registries, court records, business filings, phone directories, and similar public sources. If information about someone isn't in those databases, we won't find it. A clean result means nothing came up in the sources we checked, not that there's nothing to find. That said, having some verified information is always better than going in with none, and Safi gives you a solid starting point for your own conversations.

Effective date: 22 March 2026 · Governing law: ADGM, Abu Dhabi Global Market, UAE, with India-specific provisions below, subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable Indian law

Who we are

Safi is operated by Safi Holdings Ltd, a company registered in ADGM (Abu Dhabi Global Market), UAE. When we say “Safi,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” we mean this entity and its affiliates.

Safi is a personal trust verification service. You give us a name and phone number, tell us why you're checking (match, landlord, date, contractor, etc.), and we organise publicly available information into a clear report for you.

What you agree to

By creating an account, running a check, or using any part of Safi, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Safi.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Safi. We do not knowingly provide services to anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use Safi. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account and delete their data.

What Safi is

Safi is a personal information service. We organise publicly available information from government registries (MCA, eCourts), business filings, phone directories, and other public sources into a report that's easy to read and act on.

Safi reports are for your personal use only. They help you make informed personal decisions, whether you're considering a matrimonial match, signing a rental agreement, or entering a business partnership.

Consent and data processing (DPDP Act)

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, Safi processes your personal data only with your explicit consent. By using Safi, you consent to the processing of your phone number and check-related data as described in our Privacy Policy.

You have the right to withdraw consent, access your data, and request erasure. Contact us at privacy@getsafi.ai.

What you can't use Safi for

You agree not to use Safi for:

  1. Employment screening: using Safi to make hiring, firing, promotion, or any staffing decisions.
  2. Commercial screening at scale: using Safi on behalf of an organisation to screen clients, partners, or vendors systematically.
  3. Harassment, stalking, or intimidation: using Safi to track, monitor, or threaten anyone.
  4. Blackmail or extortion: using information from Safi to threaten or coerce anyone.
  5. Public shaming or defamation: publishing, sharing, or redistributing Safi reports in a manner intended to harm someone's reputation. Under Indian law (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 356), making or publishing imputations intended to harm someone's reputation is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment up to two years and/or fine.
  6. Discrimination: making decisions about anyone based on caste, religion, gender, region, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

By running a check, you certify that you are using this report for personal purposes only.

If we believe you're using Safi for a prohibited purpose, we will terminate your account immediately and without refund.

About public records and court cases

Safi sources information from publicly available records, including eCourts (Indian court records database with 81+ million cases) and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).

Important context about court records in India:

  • Having a court case in eCourts is extremely common. Property disputes, civil matters, and business disputes are routine in India and do not necessarily indicate wrongdoing.
  • A case being listed does not mean the person was found guilty. Many cases are pending, dismissed, or resolved favourably.
  • Safi reports provide the case details as recorded in public databases. We do not make judgments about guilt or innocence.
  • Case status may have changed since the last update in the public database.

You agree not to assume the worst based on court records alone. Safi provides context with every finding to help you understand what it means.

Accuracy and limitations

Safi searches publicly available records only. We check eCourts, MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs), phone directories, sanctions lists, and other public sources. We do our best to find accurate information, but we cannot guarantee that every piece of information is complete, accurate, or up to date.

  • Public records may contain errors. A court case listed under someone's name may belong to a different person with the same name. We use multiple signals to verify identity, but perfect matching is not always possible.
  • Records may be outdated. A company registration that was active when we checked may have changed since.
  • We may not find everything. If someone's information isn't in the public databases we check, it won't appear in our report. A clean result means nothing came up in our sources, not that there is nothing to find.
  • We do not access private accounts, sealed records, or any non-public information.
  • We are not a substitute for professional legal or financial advice.

That said, having verified information from public records is better than having none at all. Safi gives you a solid starting point for your own conversations and decisions.

You agree not to take any adverse action against anyone based solely on a Safi report. A Safi report is a starting point for your own conversations and research, not a final verdict.

Using Safi for matrimonial checks

Safi's “Check a match” feature is designed for families and individuals making matrimonial decisions. We understand this is an important and sensitive process.

  • Safi organises publicly available information. We don't access private data.
  • Findings should be the starting point of a conversation, not a reason to make a unilateral decision.
  • Court records, business filings, and other public information provide context, but context requires conversation.
  • If you share a Safi report with family members involved in the decision, that's your choice. But further sharing (posting online, sharing with uninvolved parties) is prohibited.

How checks work

  1. You provide a name, phone number, and use case (why you're checking).
  2. We search publicly available sources: eCourts, MCA, phone directories, and the open web.
  3. We use AI to organise findings into a report.
  4. You receive your report via the web and optionally via WhatsApp.
  5. Your results are automatically deleted from our systems after 7 days.

Your first check is free. After that, you can purchase a single check or a monthly subscription.

Payments and subscriptions

Pricing (India):

  • Single check: ₹199
  • Monthly unlimited: ₹499/month

Payments are processed by Stripe (with UPI support). We do not store your payment card or UPI details.

Monthly subscriptions:

  • Billed monthly on the date you subscribed.
  • You can cancel anytime. You'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
  • If a payment fails, your account enters a “past due” state. You can view existing reports but can't run new checks until payment is resolved.

Refunds:

  • If a check fails due to a technical error on our end, we'll refund you or credit your account.
  • We do not offer refunds because you didn't like what a report said. The service is the search, not a guaranteed outcome.

Your data and the DPDP Act

What personal data we collect: Your phone number (for account authentication via OTP), the name, phone number, and optional details of the person you check, your use case selection, payment information (processed by Stripe), and device and usage analytics.

Legal basis for processing: Your personal data is processed based on your consent (given by accepting these terms and running a check). Public records about the person you check are “public information” as defined by the DPDP Act: information made available by the individual themselves or published by authorised government agencies, and are not considered personal data under the Act.

How long we keep it: Check results are automatically deleted after 7 days. Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 1 year after account deletion (for legal and accounting obligations).

Your rights under the DPDP Act: You have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email privacy@getsafi.ai.

Data breach notification: If we experience a personal data breach affecting your data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by the DPDP Act.

We don't sell your data. Ever. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Safi, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your redistribution or misuse of Safi reports.
  • Any action you take against a third party based on a Safi report.

Grievance officer

In accordance with the DPDP Act and the Information Technology Act, 2000:

Grievance Officer: The Data Protection Officer

Response time: We will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and provide a resolution within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.

Dispute resolution

Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Safi will first be subject to mediation. If mediation fails, disputes will be resolved through arbitration under the rules of the ADGM Arbitration Centre.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or the DPDP Act, 2023 to the extent those rights cannot be waived by contract.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you via WhatsApp or an in-app notice at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Safi after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire agreement

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Safi regarding your use of the service. They supersede any prior agreements, communications, or understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter of these terms.

No waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by Safi.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these terms or your rights under these terms, in whole or in part, without our prior written consent. We may assign these terms to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets without your consent.

Force majeure

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where the failure or delay results from any cause beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, power failures, internet or telecommunications failures, government actions, or failures of third-party service providers (including data sources, payment processors, and cloud infrastructure).

Survival

The following sections survive termination or expiration of these terms: What you can't use Safi for, Accuracy and limitations, Intellectual property, Limitation of liability, Indemnification, Dispute resolution, Severability, Entire agreement, No waiver, and Assignment.
